Categories of spatial relationships among objects: topological and geometric (incl. proximal and directional). Topological relationships are used as a method for analyzing spatial relations and some kinds of patterns in GIS. The semantics of the topological relationships have the following categories:
- equivalence (equal)
- partial equivalence (overlap, cross)
- containment (inside)
- adjacency (connected, or meets)
- separateness (disjoint)
