Remote Sensing and Image Analysis

• Open https://sentinel2explorer.esri.com and login with your ArcGIS Online account
• Find and zoom to your area of interest (AoI)
• Use the Time Selector to choose cloud-free imagery with good illumination, e.g. in summer time
• Employ the M - Mask function with 'Veg.Index' to identify areas with active vegetation, i.e. a high vegetation index, e.g. above 0.5
• Repeat this with other indices for Water or Urban, and experiment to find plausible masking threshold values

Discuss the potential and shortcomings of this approach to extract thematic / semantic information from spectral image data!
